Global week of Prayer
Global Week of Prayer is an initiative of 24/7 Prayer that seeks to galvanise the world-wide church to come together to pray in Jesus’ name.
The initiative is driven by churches hosting prayer rooms. A Prayer Room is a creative prayer space that enables a chain of unbroken day and night prayer, bringing friends, communities and churches together to confidently seek the Lord who promises to hear and answer our prayers.
This year, the focus comes from Philippians 2:9-11: ‘…that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow…and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.’
Global Week of Prayer runs from Sunday 6th September to Sunday 13th September.

What is Plentylife doing?
We will be having a prayer room at Mernda Uniting Church where people can come individually or with others.
The room contains interactive prayer stations for you to engage in prayer in a range of ways. These include thanksgiving, worship, forgiveness, intercession & stillness. We’re invited to come as we are to spend time in God’s presence, praying that Jesus would be known in the world, our communities and our own lives.
As it’s our first year, we will focus on having the prayer room open at a few set times during the week.
The prayer room will be open on*:
- Monday 7th: 7pm – 9pm
- Tuesday 8th: 9am – 9pm
- Saturday 12th: 11am – 6pm
There will be a couple of gathering moments during the week where you can expect to pray with or alongside others (see calendar below).
*Minimum numbers of 3 people are required to ensure the prayer room is a safe environment for all participants. An on-site supervisor will be present at all times. We encourage you to bring a friend when signing up, or sign up at the same time as someone else.
Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Who is Global Week of Prayer for?
Anyone! Anyone can come to pray. It doesn’t matter if you are experienced in prayer or new to it. The point is that our Lord Jesus loves to hear all and any of our prayers because ‘he lives to intercede for us’ (Heb 7:25).
Jesus said, ‘And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.’ (John 14:13-14).
Where is the Plentylife Prayer Room?
Our prayer room will be located in the church at Mernda Uniting Church – 97 Schotters Rd, Mernda.
Safety and Safeguarding
At Plentylife, we are committed to the safety and wellbeing of every person.
As such, we are taking the following measures to ensure that the prayer room is a safe place to gather before God.
- The prayer room will be supervised by a safe ministry cleared member of Plentylife during opening times throughout the week.
- Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
- Emergency contact information will be displayed inside the prayer room.
- Clear instructions for the prayer room and spaces used.
- Adequate lighting inside and outside of the prayer room.
- Alternative access for those with various needs.
- The prayer room will not be accessible outside of advertised opening times.
- A first aid kit will be present on site.
- Minimum number of people for each session is 3 people (i.e. 2 + on-site supervisor).
